Grrrrrreat Grapefruit!

Rain! We received heavenly rain.  It even looks like we may receive more. Keep it coming. The weather is beautiful and cool. Most all of the spring blossoms have faded giving way to infant fruit that will surely drop as they develop.
The Rio Red grapefruit tree is loaded with babies thanks to lots of busy bees.  In the photo above, the current crop being harvested can be seen below the new flush of growth.  I've had one grapefruit almost every morning since January. Wish I would have kept count.  Needless to say, there is no chance of a scurvy outbreak in this garden with grapefruit, orange, manderin, and lemon producing beautifully. The only imperfections would be the cosmetic damage from miners.  The next citrus tree I will bring to the garden is a Bearrs lime.  One of my favorite drinks is chunks of a variety of citrus all squished in a glass with ice and club soda.  So good.
Ajax doesn't care for citrus, but he's enjoying the cool beautiful weather.  High 5 paws for this great weather.  We need to duck inside.  It looks like the skies are threatening to open.

Thanks for the rain and snow!

Ajax looks like one contented dog! Your grapefruit looks great! Our Washington Navel orange and the Dwarf Meyer Lemon have been loaded with blossoms, too. We are getting some light rain right now. April showers, I guess.

I bet citrus right off the tree has got to taste amazing.
So glad you are getting much needed moisture!

Maybelline, it's awesome that you are receiving the much needed moisture. Ours is supposed to arrive on Wednesday and Thursday with a threat of snow on Friday. With the daily temperatures in the 50s and 60s, I seriously doubt it will snow on Friday but still in Nebraska any thing can happen in April. I'm hoping for rain to begin filling up my rain collection storage tank. Two inches will fill the 400 gallon tank to the top. The leaks of last year have been addressed last fall and now the wait begins to see if the fixes have actually survived the winter. Maybe this will be the year of fish in the storage tank. My intention as from the beginning three years ago to catch fish from the water shed lakes around my city and put them in the tank during the summer months. After the summer is over, just take them back to the lake and turn them loose. No issues with trying to winter over fish that way. To feed them I would like to hang a bug zapper over the tank and let them eat fried bugs as a supplement to what I would feed them. There's plenty of bugs in Nebraska so they will get fed really well.

Have a great day enjoying the rain but stay way from the mud slides. Well, I guess you don't get too many of those in Bakersfield.
