Dovie’s eggs hatched during the week leading up to Easter. She now has two hungry babies to fatten up. Customers to Darwin’s Diner lounge below the hanging basket of fern that cradles the nest. One particular customer sniffs the air in anticipation.
Happy Easter from Maybelline’s Garden.

Hi, Maybelline! You know a nest of doves was what I started my blog about, right?
Since then I've found out they can be pushy bastards, those mourning doves! Fighting with one another. Dive bombing the dog.
You put me to shame reminding me I should be growing plants from seed instead of buying them at nurseries - a fair criticism! And, honestly, these days it's so hard to find decent plants in nurseries anyway!
But I have been such a lazy gardener the last couple of years, I let myself get out of the habit. I'm trying to re-start myself. I used to do quite a lot of growing from seeds and propagating. Maybe this upcoming winter I'll try to get back to that.
No shame intended. Just trying to save you a couple of bucks. Enjoy your garden.
UPDATE!
The babies started to fly on Easter Sunday.
