Oh Boy! Boysenberry

DSC_1596_4504

That’s right.  The 2010 crop of boysenberry is not bumper but it’s more than was expected.  This is the first season for the canes.  Boysenberries are Farmer MacGregor’s favorite berries.  This crop should be fairly easy to process.  2011 may be MacGregor’s year of the boysenberries.  2010 only produced one.

With only one berry, there's no place to go but up! Your post made me smile... keep trying, that's what we gardeners do. :)

They're my favorite too!!!! Altho, technically I guess my favorite is actually blackberries....what exactly is the difference? And we are also on our first year of canes....bought 12, planted them in 1-gal. containers until we can find spots for them in the fall, and they are all surviving, yea! We however got....drum roll please...3 berries on the one (and only) plant that produced anything. Here's to future jam making!

*Maureen - I posted about boysenberries when I 1st bought the plant and learned that boysenberries are a combination of raspberries, blackberries, and loganberries. You can read the post here

Or skim over the labels for posts about boysenberries. Hope you're ready for jam in 2011.
